Original documentation of the formation of Mu Kappa Upsilon
HISTORY
On January 9th, 1978, the brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi, Alpha Omega Chapter, decided by unanimous decision to separate from the national fraternity. To accomplish this task, it was necessary to sever all bonds with Kappa Kappa Psi and form a new fraternity. Thus, Mu Kappa Upsilon (though the name was chosen at a later date) was born.

Through several months of hard work, the fraternity began to take shape. Members of the ritual committee and constitution committee worked effortlessly to draft and create the first constitution. Eventually, it was submitted and approved, and on March 19th, 1978, under the advisement of Donald Hower, Mu Kappa Upsilon held its first initiation in the Pitt Stadium Band Room.
